Domain verification on Facebook (now Meta) is a mandatory procedure for those who want to effectively run ads with the "Conversion" objective and track user actions on the site. This measure was introduced by Meta due to changes in the iOS 14 operating system from Apple, which limited the ability to track user data.
Here are the key reasons why you should verify your domain:
- To work with conversions. Without domain verification, you will not be able to use the "Conversions" objective in your advertising campaigns. This means that you will not be able to optimize your ads for important events such as purchases, registrations, adding to cart, etc.
- For event tracking. Domain verification allows you to set up and track events on your site using the Meta pixel. Following Apple's changes, each domain can track up to 8 conversion events. You can prioritize them so Meta knows which events are most important to you.
- Control and security. Domain verification proves that you own it. This prevents fraud and the use of your domain by attackers in their advertising campaigns.
- Link Control: Once your domain is verified, you have more control over the links to your site in your Facebook and Instagram posts, including thumbnails, titles, and meta descriptions.
- Preventing Blocks: Some users have noted that not having a verified domain can lead to issues with the ad account and blocking, especially when running conversion campaigns.
Linking a domain to a quiz
First of all, you need to link your own domain to the quiz. You can find out how to do this here . Only after your quiz opens on your domain, you can proceed to verify it on Facebook.
To do this, go to the Meta Business Suite website, under "Company Settings". In the left menu, find the "Brand Safety and Values" section and select "Domains":
Click the "Add" button and select "Create a new domain" from the drop-down menu:
Enter your domain name (without https:// or www., for example, mysite.com) and click "Add":
Select "Add meta-tag" as the domain verification method, then copy the content attribute value:
Go to the QuizLead quiz editor, to the "Integrations" -> "Facebook Pixel" section:
Enter the copied value in the "Domain Verification Code for Facebook" field:
Make sure the integration is enabled and click the "Save" button. Go to Facebook and click the "Verify domain" button:
Domain verification is not just a recommendation, but a necessary step for serious and effective business promotion using Meta Ads advertising. This allows you to not only fully use the platform's functionality, but also protects your brand.
